Where is the IVC located?

The IVC is located in room 260 in the newer wing of the Halbouty Geosciences Building. For detailed directions to the IVC, please see the Location page.

Who can use the IVC facilities?

The IVC facilities are available to all Texas A&M faculty, their postdocs and graduate students, for research and teaching purposes. Accounts are granted to Texas A&M University employees only; remote collaborators are not eligible for accounts on the IVC systems. Please see the Access page to request an IVC account.

How much does it cost to use the IVC facilities?

The IVC facilities are available at no cost to all Texas A&M faculty and their postdocs and graduate students. The facilities can be reserved on a "first-come, first-served" basis. The IVC staff is available to assist users with IVC hardware and software.

How can I reserve the IVC for my presentation?

The IVC can be reserved on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Submit a reservation request by contacting the IVC staff.

How do I get an IVC account?

Please go to the policies page to request an account on the IVC's computer system. Please be aware that you must have a NEO account in order to request an IVC account.

How do I access the IVC's systems?

Access to the IVC's system is provided using the IVC account explained above. Users must SSH into apollo.isc.tamu.edu using their IVC account from inside the Texas A&M campus, or use VPN if off-campus. Refer to Texas A&M's VPN guidelines page for infformation on how to set up VPN access.

Is the software I use available in the IVC?

Please see the Software page for a list of programs installed in the IVC. If the software you use is not installed in the IVC, you may request that it be installed by contacting IVC staff. Open-source software requests are preferred, but a limited software budget is available for licensed software. The ability for the IVC to use an existing TAMU or departmental floating license is ideal.

How is the IVC funded?

The IVC is funded by the Office of the Vice President for Research. It is operated by the Institute for Scientific Computation and is housed in facilities provided by the Department of Geology and Geophysics.
